Birds & Butterflies

While walking along the waterfront in Nanaimo, BC, this and 55 other Canada Geese of all ages came floating down the river into the bay and directly toward me on the shore, then passed in front of me and back out into the bay. I couldn't believe it. I felt blessed to share them for a few short moments.

Who knew there were flamingoes in British Columbia? =:-O

The Victoria Butterfly Gardens have a lot more than just butterflies. They also have some pretty cool birds like Leo, the Orange-Winged Amazon Parrot. What a gorgeous bird! And what a delightful place to visit if you have the chance.

Butterflies are often attracted to lantanas, and this one was no exception. I appreciated that it spread its wings for me - and stayed that way long enough for me to get this picture.

The white on this butterfly's wings makes it almost look as if light emanates from them. And that's with the wings folded! I am constantly amazed at the diversity and beauty of nature.

Taken at Fort Mason in San Francisco, this seagull seemed to pose for me. After seeing this photo, I'll never look at a seagull the same way again.

OK, this is probably a moth, not a butterfly, but it's my favorite image taken on a recent trip to southern Missouri. It feels like a jet plane in flight.

This one feels like a hang glider ready to jump off the tip of the land.

What a cooperative butterfly! It decided to land on Kris's shoulder and waited until I got a good picture. What you see in the background is her jacket and purse.

No kidding! This was taken inside a retail business. The bird was in one of their indoor pond areas. I was shocked that the pictre actually came out -- AND looked good too!

My current second fastest seller, this butterly and columbine look amazing on the rich yellow paper. You wouldn't immediately guess this was taken in Arizona!

The paper choice draws the eye to the butterfly's wings, and this picture was also taken in Arizona.

I love the diverse textures and colors of the butterfly and the background rock.

Kris took this picture. Can you tell where the butterfly had landed? Yup. On my back! It's as if it was posing for us. I even walked around for a while, but it stayed for almost 5 minutes.
